The ‘TIPIQA GLO’ lamp is a project by architects Mattia Pelani and Marina Maestri.
The concept takes form from the reconversion of an industrial item used as an electrical line isolator into the typical element for the design of innovative, versatile and daily use table lamps.
The study starts from the desire to enhance the intrinsic characteristics of the industrial piece, created in non-recyclable thermosetting resin.
The research into the material has led to a detailed analysis on the possible surface treatments that would allow appropriate painting.
The final result is the variety of possible colours of the support structure of the Tipiqa lamp, a melding of research and innovation.
The Tipiqa design combines different materials and elements that, dialoguing between them, finds a functional and aesthetic essence.
Three components in particular define the lamp design: the reclaimed industrial piece, the cylindrical base with horizontal etching and the globes with various glass finishes.
The infinite combinations of these three elements, presented in numerous declinations, always create new variations that are able to adapt to different types and settings.
The Tipiqa collection is characterised by the different colours of the lamp body, the use of different materials for the bases, and a different treatment of the globes.
The bases can be in painted metal or chrome, brass or marble. The globes in hand-blown Murano glass present different production processes.
The desire to use only Made in Italy components has defined a line of small artisanal companies for the creation and finishing of the individual parts making up the lamp.
Each component of the Tipiqa lamp is the fruit of research throughout Italy for the best manufacturing sectors for the turning of bases in iron and brass, the polishing and chroming treatments, painting and production of hand-blown glass globes.
The TIPIQA Italian design brand was created by architects Mattia Pelani and Marina Maestri for the creation of a new concept of table lamps.
The first product prototypes, lamps ‘Tipiqa Glo’ and ‘Tipiqa Lamp’, were presented in preview at the Din Design space (Lambrate Design District) on the occasion of the Fuori Salone of Milan 2018.
In autumn 2018, the lamps were shown at the ‘Sia Innovation Design Area’ at the Rimini Fair, within SIA Hospitality Design.
The project is in the implementation phase, with inclusion of further variants of lamps and the study of other design elements.
It will also shortly be available in some design stores in Milan.
